Runners wanted! We need your help!
08 January 2026
Calling all runners...every step you take could help save lives.
Are you part of a running club or have you made a resolution that 2026 will be the year you get fitter?
We’d love to hear from you if you’re taking on a physical challenge this year and would consider doing it in aid of our charity.
Maybe you’re planning to run in an organised race such as the Great Manchester Run?
If you have a place we’d love for you to consider running to raise funds to help us continue to spread the word.
We’ll be here to help you every step of the way and have a range of materials, running vests and more that we can provide - as well as lots of cheers and encouragement!
If organised races aren’t your thing, perhaps you could set yourself a challenge to run a set distance over a week, two weeks or a month?
Or, if you are just starting on your running journey or fancy something slightly different, maybe you could consider sponsored jogging, walking, cycling or even swimming? Anything goes!
Catherine, a supporter who worked alongside Dianne at the BBC, recently ran the Great North Run in aid our charity. She said: “I did the Great North Run. It felt fitting to raise money for the Dianne Oxberry Trust because Dianne was a very proud Geordie, as am I. It’s the one of the reasons we bonded in the first place. I knew that the North East had a special place in her heart and she would approve of me running over the beautiful Tyne Bridge in her memory.
“I enjoyed the preparation. I started with couch to 5k in January and worked my way up. I’m really proud that I reached the half marathon distance. I want to keep running.
“On the day I felt really excited, prepared and completely inspired by the brilliant Geordies on the roadside keeping everyone going. The support is just phenomenal. I got to run through my hometown of Jarrow and see my mam, dad and best mate cheering me on which was wonderful.
“I was really touched by the support I received from donors. Dianne meant so much to so many and people who didn’t know her personally felt like they did.
"It was great to be able to raise money and feel you are contributing to raising awareness of ovarian cancer in a practical way.
“If anyone was considering doing something similar to help raise money for the charity I’d say ‘Do it’. The Dianne Oxberry Trust is an amazing charity and it could save lives.”
Jo Rosenberg, our chair of trustees, said: “Running is a real passion for me, and I love seeing people taking on personal challenges like this in aid of our charity. It’s really uniting two things I care deeply about and I always find it so inspiring to hear people’s stories and motivations.
“We’re such a small charity and every small step makes such a massive difference in enabling us to continue our work. With huge ambitions and a vision for a future where no-one in the North West dies from ovarian cancer, we need lots of support from local people.
“Please get in touch and join us as we literally take the next step together in our charity’s journey.”
