Soroptimist International Liverpool helps spread the word about ovarian cancer...

We were thrilled to be invited to take part in a special evening in Liverpool recently to talk more about our work and raise awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer.
Our trustee, Dr Charlotte Badescu, was grateful to be invited to the speaker’s evening by Soroptimist International Liverpool at Mossley Hill Athletic Club.
GP Charlotte shared her lived experience of ovarian cancer, and talked more about her beautiful baby girl and that she is pregnant and expecting a second child later this year.
As a GP she also spoke about the importance of women seeing their doctor immediately if something doesn’t feel right.
Charlotte said: “It was such a pleasure to meet everyone at this event and to help raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.
“The symptoms can often be confused for other things or ignored by busy women but it is so, so important that people see their GP if they are experiencing things that aren’t normal for them.
That’s at the heart of our spread the word campaign and we’re always happy to meet groups like the people at the Soroptimist International Liverpool event or to offer information or materials for people to share with their communities too.
“It was great to hear the positive feedback from everyone at the event and that they were inspired to make a change and help spread the word about the symptoms of ovarian cancer too.
"As a small charity we rely on people across the North West to do just that – that’s the best way to help achieve tangible change and ultimately, I hope, to save lives too.
“Thanks again for inviting me along. It’s really appreciated.”
