Joining the One Cancer Voice coalition

We're proud to join over 70 organisations, raising awareness and driving forward change...
With recent statistics showing that ovarian cancer is higher than average in the North West when compared with the rest of the country, we're stepping up our efforts to improve early diagnosis and prognosis for local people.
As part of that work, we're proud to have joined the One Cancer Voice coalition to help spread the word about ovarian cancer even further.
The coalition, which is made up of over 70 national, regional and local organisations, collaborates on issues and interests that affect all cancer patients, working across the sector to call for and drive forward change.
Jo Rosenberg, our chair of trustees and good friend of Dianne, said: “When it comes to ovarian cancer, early diagnosis is vital. Dianne was diagnosed just ten days before her death and sadly her experience isn’t unique. Many people don’t realise the symptoms they are experiencing are ovarian cancer until it’s tragically too late, but, if diagnosed in its earliest stages more than 90 per cent of people survive for five years or more.
“We’ve been spreading the word about the symptoms of ovarian cancer for a few years to move closer to achieving our ambitious vision of a future where no-one in the North West dies from ovarian cancer. But, while we do punch above our weight, we’re still a really small charity run mainly by volunteers, so rely on partnerships and collaboration to reach out and achieve tangible change.
“That’s why we’re so excited to have joined the One Cancer Voice coalition and to stand shoulder to shoulder, talking as one with other organisations who are also committed to improving cancer care, awareness and outcomes for people all over the UK.
“We make no apology for being a noisy neighbour and are looking forward to working with the other coalition members as they continue to do amazing work – talking in one loud voice together.”
Figures from North West Cancer Research showed that in some areas of the North West, prevalence of ovarian cancer is more than 20 per cent above the norm and we're committed to raising awareness in key areas of the signs and symptoms to try and ensure as many people as possible seek help from their GP if they are worried.
Shaun Walsh, head of public affairs and campaigns for Cancer Research UK and lead of the One Cancer Voice coalition, said: “I’m delighted that the Dianne Oxberry Trust is joining the One Cancer Voice coalition. As a cancer community we are stronger when we work together and I look forward to working with the Dianne Oxberry Trust in our joint commitment to improving outcomes for people affected by cancer.”
